StoreRocket works great with Shopify. Install the app and your store locator page is ready on your store, with no code to paste. This guide covers the install, the page StoreRocket manages for you, adding the locator to other pages, and the most common questions.
Install from the Shopify App Store
Go to the StoreRocket app on the Shopify App Store
Click Install and follow the prompts
You'll land in StoreRocket, ready to add your locations
During the install, StoreRocket puts the locator on a page of your store called Store Locator, at yourstore.com/pages/store-locator. You don't need to copy or paste anything.
Already have a page called Store Locator, for example from another locator app? StoreRocket adds the locator to that page instead of creating a second one. Everything else on the page stays exactly as it was.
StoreRocket never edits your theme. It only works with your pages.
Your Store Locator page
You can see the page in StoreRocket under Store Locator > Install (open the Install page). It shows the page name and its web address. Click View my page to open it on your store.
Rename the page
Want it called "Where to Buy" or "Find a Store"? You can rename it right from StoreRocket.
Open Store Locator > Install (open the Install page)
Click Rename next to your page
Type the new name and click Rename page
The web address follows the new name, so "Where to Buy" becomes /pages/where-to-buy. We forward the old address to the new one for you, so any links you already shared keep working.
Shopify can take a few seconds to show the page at its new address. If View my page is counting down, wait for it to finish before you open the page.
Put the page back
Deleted the page, or removed the locator from it by accident? StoreRocket can put it back.
Open Store Locator > Install (open the Install page)
Under Page or embed missing?, click Put it back
If the Install page doesn't show a page at all, click Add it to my Shopify store instead. StoreRocket checks your pages first. It uses your Store Locator page if you have one, and only creates a new page when none exists.
Add the locator to another page
The Store Locator page is the easiest option, but you can also put the locator on any other page of your store.
In StoreRocket, open Store Locator > Install (open the Install page)
Copy the embed code
In Shopify, go to Online Store > Pages
Open the page you want, or create a new one
Click the <> (Show HTML) button in the page editor
Paste the embed code
Click Save
If you installed the Shopify app, the Install page starts with your Shopify page. The code for another page sits under Put the locator on another page too. Select that row to open it.
Will StoreRocket slow down my Shopify store?
StoreRocket does not inject code across your entire Shopify storefront. It loads only on pages where the locator is, so your home, product, collection, and checkout pages stay untouched unless you deliberately place StoreRocket there.
On the locator page, the widget script loads asynchronously. The rest of the page can render while the locator loads separately instead of waiting for it first.
This page-scoped setup works the same way on any website, not only Shopify. If you install the optional floating button across your whole site, its script loads sitewide by design.
Setting up the map
After installing, you'll need a map provider. You have two options:
Google Maps: Requires a Google Maps API key. More features, but requires a Google Cloud account.
Mapbox: Offers a card-free account with lower trial limits. For normal use and the standard free allowances, add a payment method. See the Mapbox setup guide. Great for getting started fast.
Choose yours under Store Locator > Customize > Map & markers > Map connection > Mapping service. Open Mapping service.
Google Maps API key on Shopify
If you're using Google Maps, you need to add your Shopify domain to the API key's allowed referrers. In the Google Cloud Console, add these referrers to your API key:
*yourstore.myshopify.com/**yourcustomdomain.com/*(if you have a custom domain)*storerocket.io/**.storerocket.io/**admin.shopify.com/*(for the Shopify admin preview)
Important: Billing on Shopify
If you pay through Shopify, uninstalling the StoreRocket app cancels its Shopify charge. If you pay by card, uninstalling does not cancel that subscription, so cancel it from your Billing page first.
Your cancellation path depends on how you pay:
If you pay by card: open Billing in StoreRocket and select Cancel subscription
If you pay through Shopify: uninstall StoreRocket from Settings > Apps in Shopify. This cancels its future recurring Shopify charges.
Adding the floating button on Shopify
The floating button is a button in the corner of every page of your store. When visitors click it, your store locator opens over the page. It is included in the Business plan.
In StoreRocket, open the Floating Button page
Under Put it on your website, click Turn on in Shopify
Shopify opens your theme editor with Floating button already switched on under App embeds. Click Save
That's it, no code. Back in StoreRocket, the row shows On once your store shows the button. Everything you save in StoreRocket (words, colour, style, shape, corner, phones) reaches your store by itself.
To turn it off, open Online Store > Themes > Customize > App embeds in Shopify, switch off Floating button and click Save. If you change your theme, turn it on again for the new one.
Already pasted the floating button code into your theme? It keeps working, and the switch never adds a second button. You can remove the pasted code once the switch is on.
Troubleshooting
Widget not loading on my Shopify store
Check these in order:
Is the locator on the page? Open Store Locator > Install (open the Install page). If it can't find your page, click Put it back. For a page you set up yourself, open it in Shopify, click <> to view the HTML, and confirm the StoreRocket code is there
Is your map provider set up? Check Mapping service under Store Locator > Customize > Map & markers > Map connection (open it)
Is your subscription active? Check your Billing page
Using Google Maps? Make sure your API key referrers include your Shopify domain (see above)
"Your Shopify store has more than one page named Store Locator"
If your store has two or more pages called Store Locator, StoreRocket doesn't guess which one to use. Rename or delete the extra pages in Shopify, then click Add it to my Shopify store again. You can also message us on live chat and we'll connect the right page for you.
"Your Store Locator page already has a locator from another StoreRocket account"
That page carries a locator from a different StoreRocket account, so we left it alone. Message us on live chat and we'll connect the right account.
Locator is blank or missing from my page
If your StoreRocket account is inactive after its trial or subscription ends, the locator is hidden and visitors see no account error message. Open your Billing page to check your status, then reload your website after reactivating.
Linked to the wrong StoreRocket account
If the Shopify app connected to an old or wrong StoreRocket project, contact us on live chat and we'll help you relink to the correct account.
Widget too narrow or not full width
If your Shopify page puts the locator inside a narrow text column, StoreRocket widens it automatically to your site's normal width, the same width as your header. If it still looks narrow, you can adjust this by:
Using a full-width page template in your Shopify theme
Adding custom CSS in your theme to make the container wider
