Mapbox is a great alternative to Google Maps. Their free tier offers more views and more requests to their API compared to Google. Their maps are beautiful.
Mapbox offers:
~50,000 map loads free per month
~100,000 address lookups free per month
This guide shows how to create your Mapbox access token and connect it to StoreRocket.
The full free monthly allowances apply after adding a payment method. Card-free accounts have lower trial limits. See Mapbox's current account limits.
The quickest way: Connect your map
StoreRocket can walk you through it, one step per screen.
Open Connect your map (in Store Locator > Customize > Map & markers, select No key yet? Set it up step by step)
Select Set it up with me
Follow the steps. When you paste your token, StoreRocket checks it with Mapbox straight away
Already have a token? Select I already have a key on the same page and paste it.
The steps below cover the same setup by hand.
Step 1
Go to Mapbox sign-up and fill in the form. Choose Add a card now: nothing is charged today, and you only pay above the free monthly allowance. Then click Verify email in the email Mapbox sends you.
Why add the card now? Without a card, Mapbox gives you a usage-limited token. If you add a card later, Mapbox may offer to Rotate token. Choose Keep token if you want the existing token to keep working. If you rotate it, paste the new token into StoreRocket afterward.
Step 2
Your access token is already there waiting for you! Open your Mapbox tokens and click the copy button next to Default public token. It starts with pk.
Step 3
Now put the token into StoreRocket. The easiest place is Connect your map: select I already have a key, paste it, and StoreRocket checks it straight away.
Or, in Customize:
Go to Store Locator > Customize and choose Map & markers, or open Map connection directly
Under Map connection, set Mapping service to Mapbox
Paste your access token into the Mapbox access token field
Select Save
StoreRocket checks the token as soon as you save it. The saved token stays hidden. Leave the field blank to keep it.
If you were using Google Maps before, your install code changes with the mapping service. Your website keeps the old code until you replace it, so copy the new one from your Install page.
Step 4
đ Done!
That was so quick!
If everything went fine, you will now be able to paste your store locator widget code to your website and it will be visible when you visit it. The preview beside the settings shows your map too.
