I already have a StoreRocket account and installed the Shopify app

How to use your existing StoreRocket account on a Shopify website without the Shopify app.

Updated yesterday

If you already have a StoreRocket account and then installed the StoreRocket app from the Shopify App Store, you may have accidentally created a second account. This is the most common reason for seeing an "inactive" or "trial expired" message when opening StoreRocket from Shopify.

Here's how to fix it in a few minutes.

What happened

When you install StoreRocket from the Shopify App Store, it creates a brand new StoreRocket account tied to your Shopify login. It doesn't know about your existing account, so you end up with two separate accounts:

  1. Your original account with your locations, settings, and active subscription

  2. A new account created by the Shopify app, which starts on a free trial

The Shopify app opens the new (empty) account, not your original one. That's why it looks inactive or wrong.

The fix

You don't need the Shopify app. Your existing StoreRocket account works on any website, including Shopify, using the embed code. The Shopify app is just an alternative way to subscribe and install, but since you already have an account, the embed code is all you need.

Step 1: Uninstall the StoreRocket Shopify app

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Settings then Apps and sales channels

  2. Find StoreRocket Store Locator and click Remove

  3. Confirm the removal

This only removes the app connection. It does not affect your original StoreRocket account or your existing store locator.

Step 2: Log into your original StoreRocket account

Go to storerocket.io/login and sign in with the email you originally used to create your account. If you're not sure which email that is, try the one associated with your subscription or check your inbox for previous StoreRocket emails.

Step 3: Get your embed code

  1. In your StoreRocket dashboard, go to Install

  2. Copy the embed code shown on the page

Step 4: Add the embed code to your Shopify store

Follow our Shopify installation guide to paste the embed code into a Shopify page. It takes about 2 minutes.

That's it

Your store locator will show all your existing locations, filters, and settings on your Shopify site. Everything stays connected to your original account with your active subscription.

Common questions

Will I lose my locations or settings? No. Uninstalling the Shopify app only removes the app created by the new (empty) account. Your original account and all its data are completely untouched.

Do I need to cancel the trial on the second account? No. The trial will simply expire on its own. You won't be charged.

Can I manage StoreRocket from my Shopify admin? Not without the app, but you can manage everything from storerocket.io/login. Most customers find this easier since the full dashboard has more features than the Shopify app.

I don't remember which email I used for my original account. Contact us and we'll look it up for you.
