If you're based in the EU or serve EU visitors, you probably need to handle cookie consent before loading third-party scripts like StoreRocket. Here's what you need to know.
What data does StoreRocket collect?
StoreRocket collects anonymous analytics data when visitors use your store locator:
Searches: What addresses or locations visitors search for
Clicks: Which locations visitors click on
Views: How many times the widget loads
Approximate location: If the visitor allows geolocation, their approximate position (never stored permanently)
StoreRocket does not collect personal information from visitors unless they submit the Leads form (name, email, phone). Lead data is stored in your StoreRocket account and can be exported or deleted at any time.
What cookies does StoreRocket set?
The StoreRocket widget itself does not set any cookies on your visitors' browsers.
However, the map providers (Google Maps or Mapbox) may set their own cookies. Check Google's and Mapbox's privacy policies for details on what they collect.
Loading StoreRocket after cookie consent
If you use a cookie consent banner (like CookieBot, OneTrust, or Complianz), you can delay loading StoreRocket until the visitor consents.
Instead of including the StoreRocket script directly in your HTML, load it conditionally through your consent manager. Most consent tools let you categorize scripts as "marketing" or "functional" and only load them after consent.
The exact implementation depends on your consent tool. Check your consent manager's documentation for how to conditionally load third-party JavaScript.
Leads form and GDPR
If you use the Leads feature (Business plan), visitors submit their contact information through a form. To be GDPR-compliant:
Make sure visitors know what their data will be used for
You can add a privacy notice link near the form through your widget's custom CSS
You can export and delete lead data from the Leads page
Data deletion requests
If a visitor requests their data be deleted (under GDPR's "right to be forgotten"), check your Leads page for their submission and delete it. StoreRocket's anonymous analytics data cannot be linked back to individual visitors.
To delete your entire StoreRocket account and all associated data, contact us on live chat.
