Search Radius and Distance Settings

Configure how far your store locator searches, switch between kilometers and miles, and fix 'no results found' issues.

Updated yesterday

When visitors search for an address on your store locator, the widget shows locations within a certain distance. If that distance is too small, visitors see "no results found" even when you have locations nearby. Here's how to configure it.

Changing the default search radius

  1. Go to your Widget Settings

  2. Find the Search Radius option

  3. Set the default distance (in miles or kilometers)

  4. Click Save

Choose a radius that makes sense for how spread out your locations are. If your stores are mostly in cities, a smaller radius (25-50 miles) works well. If they're spread across a country, go larger (100-250 miles).

Switching between miles and kilometers

  1. Go to your Widget Settings

  2. Find the Distance Unit option

  3. Select Miles or Kilometers

  4. Click Save

This changes the unit shown to visitors in search results and the radius selector.

You can also customize the text label for the unit. Go to Languages and find the Miles Text or Kilometers Text field.

"No results found" when there should be results

This is almost always a radius issue. The default search radius might be too small for the searched area.

Fix: Increase your default search radius in Widget Settings. If your visitors are searching for an entire state or country, you'll need a larger radius.

Other causes:

  • Country restriction enabled: Check if you have a country filter set in Widget Settings that might be excluding some locations

  • Location not geocoded: The location might not have valid coordinates. Go to Locations, edit the location, and make sure it has a valid address in Address Line 1

  • Location is hidden: Check that the location's "Visible" setting is turned on

Radius selector on the widget

Visitors can adjust the search radius themselves using a dropdown on the widget (desktop only). The options shown in this dropdown depend on your radius settings.

On mobile, the radius selector is not shown by default due to limited screen space. The default radius you set in Widget Settings is used instead.

Showing all locations regardless of distance

If you want visitors to see all locations when they search (sorted by distance, but not filtered by radius), set your initial behavior to "Show all locations" in your Map Settings. See our Initial Behavior guide for details.
